Estereopsis y LASIK

Resumen

Objetivo: Analizar el efecto de la cirugía refractiva (LASIK) sobre la agudeza estereoscópica. Material y método: Estudiamos 47 pacientes consecutivos sometidos a LASIK bilateral y evaluamos: agudeza visual, agudeza estereoscópica (TNO), motilidad y diplopía. Se realiza examen preoperatorio y postoperatorio a la semana, 1 mes y 3 meses. En el análisis estadístico se utilizan los test de Wilcoxon y Kruskal Wallis. Resultados: No existen diferencias entre el examen preoperatorio y a los 3 meses en la agudeza visual (p=0,294) ni en la agudeza estereoscópica (p=0,545). A los 3 meses el 63,7% de los pacientes presentan la misma agudeza visual que en el preoperatorio frente al 34% que alcanzan la misma agudeza estereoscópica. Ningún paciente presentó diplopía. Conclusiones: La agudeza estereoscópica empeora en el postoperatorio inmediato, pero mejora hacia los 3 meses. Observamos una mayor variabilidad en el resultado quirúrgico respecto al preoperatorio en la agudeza estereoscópica que en la agudeza visual.

Summary

Purpose: To determine the effect of the Laser in situ Keratomileusis in the stereopsis. Methods: Forty-seven patients treated with bilateral LASIK were studied. Visual acuity, stereopsis (TNO), motility and diplopia were evaluated before and one week, one month and three months after surgery. Wilcoxon test and Kruskal Wallis test were used for the statistical analysis. Results: Visual acuity and stereopsis were not different before and three months after surgery (p=0.294 and p=0.545respectively). Three months after surgery 63.7% of patients achieved the same visual acuity that they had before surgery but only 34% of the patients presented the same stereopsis that they had before surgery. No patient complained of diplopia. Conclusions: The stereopsis worsened during the inmediate postoperative period but it improved in three months. A greater variability in stereopsis than in visual acuity were observed after LASIK.
